Blount County Dems Elects New Leadership.
Last Saturday afternoon Party leaders, elected Dem officials and Blount County Democratics gathered at the Blount County Library to elect new leadership . The Dems selected Blount County native Tony Webb to lead the Party into the next election cycle. Tony told the assembled group his priorities will be:
- Community Outreach
- Events and Fundraising
- Information technology
- Communications
- Marketing
- Reviewing By Laws
The new leadership team includes Tanya Martin elected as 1st Vice Chair; Marte Lawrence as 2nd Vice Chair; Ronnie Astor as Secretary and Tom Miller as Treasurer.
Each county commission voting district had an opportunity to select one male and one female representative as well as one male and one female alternate. These delegates will represent their district on the Executive Committee. This committee is the governing body of the Blount County Democratic Party.
District 1: Ronnie Astor (F); Brandon Cook (M alt); Marge Fugate (F alt)
District 3: Mae Owenby (F); Gerrae Messer (F alt)
District 4: Steve Merritt (M); Marte Lawrence (F); Dan Lawson (M)
District 5: Laura Rule (F); Nancy Bryan Crouch (F alt)
District 6: Gary Wynn (M)
District 8: Tom Miller (M); Tim Self (M alt)
District 10: Jerry Caveney (M); Nancy Neilsen (F); Robert Davis (M alt)
All open position can be filled at the Executive Committee’s regularly scheduled meetings. Anyone wishing to fill an open position is urged to attend.
The next meeting of the Blount County Democratic Party Executive Committee is 6:00 – 8:00 pm April 9th in the Dorothy Herron Room ‘A’ at the Blount County Library. The library is located at 508 North Cusick Ave in Maryville.
