Upcoming Community Events of Interest
At last evenings executive committee meeting there were several community events coming up that we would like to see Democrats attend. The following is a listing of time and events for those of you who may be able to attend:
***Chilhowee View Community Center Country Breakfast Benefit- Saturday morning June 13, 2009 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the community center located at 3229 Wilkinson Pike, Maryville. Menu includes pancakes, ham, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy and coffee. Adults $6.00 and $3.00 Children. All donations will be used to maintain and operate the community center. Dems this is a great opportunity to get to know the community. Not to mention top notch food.
*Family Promise of Blount County- This weekend June 13, 2009 from 11:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m. at Green Meadow United Methodist Church located at 1633 Louisville Road in Alcoa. The church is hosting an openhouse showcasing the new program to benefit homeless families of Blount County with several area churches already involved this will be a great service for our community. We need to get out there and support the effort. There will be food, fellowship, fun and games along with a fantastic band.
***Blount County Special Olympics Benefit Burger Lunch- Friday June 19, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. hosted by the First Baptist Church of Maryville. Grilled Burger with all the fixins’ chips, drink and dessert $5.00 at the door. This benefit is held yearly and is a great time, good food and benefits some very special children. All Blount County Democrats need to come out and support this great cause.
***Secret Safe Place for Newborns Benefit Breakfast- Saturday June 27, 2009 from 7:00 a.m. -9:00 a.m at Applebee’s on Alcoa Highway. The menu is pancakes, sausage and a drink. Tickets are $5.00 at the door or you can contact their office at 254-2208.
***Blount County Race Unity Day- Saturday June 27, 2009 from 12:00 -4:00 p.m. at the Pellissippi State Technical College, Blount County Center located at 1010 Middlesettlements road in Alcoa. There will be special performances, music, food and fellowship. Games for youth and children. This year’s theme is “We are flowers of the Same Garden.” Special performances will be at 1:0o and 3:00. Face painting for kids from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
