Coffee and Conversation - Tariffs and Trade and how it impacts us locally

Join us for one of these lively informal discussions with Andrew Schlegel, International Trade Analyst working for a Washington, DC-based law firm. Mr. Schlegel regularly works with clients and government agencies on tariffs and other trade-related matters, including the ongoing tariffs implemented by the Trump administration. He will give an overview of what tariffs are and why they are implemented, as well as who ends up benefitting (or not) from their implementation. He will also talk about how the broader dynamics of trade policy play out at a local level, for example why Alcoa or Arconic will find the tariffs to be welcome news, as well as why other sectors like the auto industry are not as happy.
